Career Edge Organization History

In 1996, a group of business leaders from some of Canada's largest organizations committed to make a significant contribution to youth employability by developing the Career Edge Organization and Career Edge, an unique and innovative internship program. This initiative was created in response to a finding in the mid-1990's that more than 600,000 Canadian graduates were unemployed or under-employed.

Since then, these founding organizations have been joined by over 1,000 other employers that have worked closely with the Career Edge Organization to provide over 9,800 recent graduates, graduates with self-declared disabilities and internationally qualified professionals with career-launching internships.

Career Edge Organization Now

Career Edge Organization has evolved and grown since 1996. As Canada's first on-line employment posting board, Career Edge Organization pioneered the use of technology to link companies and recent graduates through its website www.careeredge.ca.

To augment its original internship program, Career Edge Organization has since launched two additional specialized initiatives. The organization now operates three internship programs:

Career Edge (1996) - for recent graduates

Ability Edge (1999) - for graduates with disabilities

Career Bridge (2003) - for internationally qualified professionals
